Job summary

Southern Company Cyber Security Manager leads the architecture, implementation, and operations of the cyber security systems and processes across Generation, Gas, Transmission, PowerSecure, and Southern Power. You will steer a team, align with executives, and manage multi‑million‑dollar budgets to protect critical energy assets.

The role requires 8+ years in information security leadership, strong knowledge of NERC CIP regulations, and preferred CISSP/CISA/CISM/GIAC certifications.

Qualifications

• Extensive breadth and depth of cybersecurity knowledge and best practices.
• Senior leadership experience in a large, regulated organization.
• Knowledge of energy sector ICS security technologies, trends, and challenges.
• Experience leading management and multi-million-dollar budgets.
• Track record solving complex security problems with executive influence.
• Understanding generation operations and industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with NERC CIP Cyber Security regulations.
• Ability to present to executives and secure budget buy-in.
• 8+ years in information security leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an organization capable of achieving its mission and grow talent.
• Foster collaboration with Generation, Gas, Transmission, PowerSecure, and Southern Power teams.
• Brief executive management on security posture, threats, and remediation.
• Work with IT and business units to meet cyber security and compliance needs.
• Lead cyber security engineering, implementation, and support across business units.
• Oversee capital and operating expense management for security projects.
• Guide selection and support of security technologies for SOC assets.
• Lead compliance with NERC CIP and other standards for Southern Company operations.
• Oversee design and implementation of cyber security projects protecting control systems.
