Job summary

Southern Company is seeking a Cyber Security Manager for its Generation, Gas, Transmission, PowerSecure and Southern Power teams. Based in Atlanta or Birmingham, this senior role leads a security architecture, implementation, and operations program to protect energy assets and ICS environments.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a large, regulated energy organization.
• Deep knowledge of energy sector ICS security technologies, operations, trends and challenges.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and leading expert talent.
• Ability to present recommendations to executive management and secure buy-in and budget.
• Understanding of generation operations and industrial control systems, including big iron, renewables and distributed generation.
• Knowledge of NERC CIP Cyber Security regulations and related compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an organization capable of achieving its mission, including talent development and succession planning.
• Establish and maintain collaboration with management across Generation, Gas, Transmission, PowerSecure, Southern Power and Technology Organization.
• Brief executive management on security posture, threats, remediation, incidents and compliance risk.
• Collaborate with IT and business units to deliver on cyber security and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee IT cyber security engineering, implementation and support for multiple business units.
• Manage capital and operating expenses for security projects and programs.
• Guide technology selections and support for security technologies used by the organization.
• Lead efforts to comply with NERC CIP and other standards for Southern Company Operations.
• Lead design and implementation of cyber security projects to protect control system assets.
