Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is hiring an entry‑level Cyber Defense Analyst to monitor and respond to security events in classified DoD/IC environments. You will work hands‑on with SIEM/EDR, deploy sensors, and tune detections under senior engineers.

The role emphasizes learning in a fast‑paced, mission‑focused setting, with onsite work in Colorado. Candidates should have basic security ops experience, understanding of MITRE ATT&CK, and eligibility for US government clearances; training will accompany growth.

Qualifications

• Entry level hands-on experience in security operations, incident response, IT operations, or system administration or equivalent military/government cyber experience.
• Knowledge of network protocols and Windows and Linux fundamentals.
• Familiarity with SIEM and EDR concepts and the ability to investigate events using them.
• Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and triage security events and alerts across SIEM, EDR, network sensors, and logs.
• Investigate, pivot across host, network, and identity data to build a clear picture of events.
• Respond as first responder during incidents, containing per playbooks and preserving evidence.
• Hunt for threats, including structured hunts with mentors and independent work over time.
• Support audit and insider threat review with privileged user activity monitoring.
• Stand watch during launches and mission-critical events.
• Deploy sensors, onboard log sources, and roll out agents as directed.
• Tune detections, reduce false positives, and expand rule coverage.
• Improve playbooks and document gaps; drive rewrites.
• Automate routine triage, enrichment, and reporting tasks.
