Job summary

Intertek Building & Construction in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our PSI team. You will apply welding knowledge to ensure weldments and weld-related activities comply with quality and safety criteria on construction projects.

The role requires a minimum of 4 years of welding inspection experience and AWS CWI with D1.1, plus the ability to read blueprints and tolerances.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification with D1.1 experience is required.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant welding inspection experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Proficient in measurement tools and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on sites
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut
• Record results of tests and welding inspections
• Issue non-conformances and follow up on close out
• Document QA data and communicate significant issues to management
• Measure dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing as needed
