Intertek, a leading quality and safety solutions provider, seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in Charlotte, NC. You will inspect welds, review construction components, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. A signing bonus up to $1,000 is offered, plus comprehensive benefits.

The role requires AWS CWI (D1.1) with 4+ years' experience, blueprints literacy, and strong QA focus. Travel and occasional overtime may be required; valid driver’s license is a must.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AWS CWI certification with D1.1 experience required.
• Minimum of 4 years' welding inspection experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Proficient in Windows and MS Office applications.
• Able to receive and follow written and verbal directions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and with others.
• Occasional overtime and shift flexibility may be required.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, environment guidelines, policies, and regulations compliance.
• Inspect structural steel during erection on buildings, sites, and pipelines.
• Inspect general construction and steel erection for conformance to specs.
• Perform visual inspections on welds during progress and completion.
• Inspect welds for defects such as cracks and porosity.
• Record test results and welding inspection data.
• Issue non-conformances and follow through to closeout.
• Plan and conduct analysis, inspection, testing, and integration for quality.
• Review welded products to accept or reject based on criteria.
• Document QA activities per company policies and procedures.
• Communicate significant QA findings and suggest process improvements.
• Measure materials using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
• Operate testing equipment and interpret test data (soil, concrete, etc.).
• Calculate results and maintain accurate calculations.
• Adhere to safety practices to protect oneself and others.
