Job summary

Intertek Building & Construction in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our Professional Services Industries team. The role focuses on welding inspection, QA, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety criteria across building projects.

Candidates read blueprints, document QA data, and communicate improvements to management. The position requires strong welding knowledge, D1.1 experience, and the ability to work independently with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification with D1.1 experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites.
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections.
• Able to issue and follow up on non-conformances until the close out.
• Plans and conducts analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure quality.
• Review all welded products or components for acceptance or rejection.
• Document data obtained during QA activities and communicate issues to management.
• Operate measuring instruments and compute test results as needed.
• Maintain awareness of safety practices to protect self and coworkers.
