Job summary

Intertek, a national leader in quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) in Canton, OH to join Intertek-PSI. The role involves inspecting weldments, reviewing blueprints, and ensuring compliance with D1.1 and safety standards on building, pipeline, and plant sites.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 4+ years of welding inspection experience, CWI certification, strong communication, and the ability to work independently and overtime.

Qualifications

• Must have AWS CWI Certification with D1.1 experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant welding inspection experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills."
• Must be able to work independently and with others; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Test and inspect structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites, and occasional plant inspections.
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings.
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs.
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections.
• Issue and follow up on non-conformances until close out.
• Plan and conduct analysis, inspection, test, and integration to assure quality.
• Review welded products or components and provide input on acceptance or rejection.
• Document data from QA activities per company policies.
• Communicate QA issues and recommend process improvements to management.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations for conformance to specs.
• Measure dimensions using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
