Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and UT Shear Wave Level II Inspector to perform structural steel inspections on commercial, industrial, and public works projects across Arizona and Utah.

The role involves shop and field inspections of structural steel welding, bolting, and nondestructive testing, ensuring compliance with codes, specifications, and project requirements. Travel to project sites is required.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification and UT Shear Wave Level II inspection credentials.
• Experience inspecting structural steel welding, bolting, and nondestructive testing.
• Ability to review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection requirements.
• Strong reading of structural/shop drawings and code requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
• Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, AWS standards, and applicable building codes.
• Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection requirements.
• Perform and document welding inspections in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
• Prepare accurate daily reports, inspection documentation, and project records.
• Maintain complete and organized project files, including reports, field notes, correspondence, RFIs, and supporting documentation.
• Communicate inspection findings and project updates to project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
• Identify and document non-conforming work and verify corrective actions when required.
• Travel to project sites as needed to support inspection activities throughout the region.
