Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an experienced operating room nurse to deliver professional nursing care for surgical patients at UAB St. Vincent's East. The role requires scrub and circulating responsibilities, assisting the surgeon with hemostasis, suturing, and patient positioning, and preparing rooms and instruments for use.

Licensure as an Alabama RN, BLS and ACLS within required timeframes are mandatory. This full-time position offers benefits and opportunities within a large, nationally

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing.
• Professional licensure as an RN in Alabama required at time of hire.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire; ACLS within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing procedures.
• Perform scrub functions: select and handle instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor patient condition, document, and manage nursing care before, during and after procedures.
• Directly assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, patient positioning and wound exposure.
