Job summary

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support CVOR cases and ensure sterile technique for all procedures. The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and reliable communication with the surgical team.

Responsibilities include supplying instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and preparing equipment for decontamination while adhering to safety and confidentiality standards. A relevant certification and high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ prior CVOR experience preferred.
• BLS CPR certification required; CST NBSTSA/NCCT certification required per license section.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplies, instruments, positioning devices, and equipment are available for all procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional interactions with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrate aseptic technique and sterile field management for each procedure.
• Prepare instruments and equipment for decontamination or terminal sterilization as requested.
• Assist with instrument preparation and room setup for surgeries and related tasks.

Job Description:

• $15,000 Sign on Bonus (Eligibility Requirements Apply)

• Ensures required supplies, instruments, positioning devices, and equipment are available for all assigned procedures using preference cards.
• Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills, maintains patient confidentiality and interacts with all internal and external customers in a professional and courteous demeanor.
• Speaks positively to and about co-workers and the organization.
• Acceptance of constructive criticism.
• Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice and training as appropriate to all patient populations served.
• Competency includes use and applications of appropriate routine and specialty instruments, room preparations, equipment selection and positioning devices, aseptic technique and sterilization methods.
• Assists with appropriate preparation of instruments and equipment for decontamination or terminal sterilization as requested.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique and maintains a sterile field for each surgical procedure.
• Verifies exposure to sterilization and integrity of sterile packaging.
• Opens supplies aseptically.
• Recognizes and recommends process improvement.
• Is committed to continuing education beyond basic knowledge required to fulfill job duties.
• Participates in training new personnel.
• Attends departmental in-services a minimum of 50% of the time as required by facility.
• Completes educational CBL's in a timely manner.
• Reports to work on time as scheduled and follows departmental attendance policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. [Required]
• Assembly of mechanical devices, knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and fundamental human anatomy required. [Required]
• Must be able to work well with multiple team members. [Required]

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ Prior CVOR experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NCCT Technician in Surgery (TS-C) [Required]
