Job summary

AdventHealth in DADE CITY, FL seeks a skilled Surgical Tech to support sterile procedures, assist the surgical team, and maintain aseptic technique. This role requires accurate handling of specimens, quick response to emergencies, and strong knowledge of sterile field setup.

Minimum one year of scrub experience in a multidisciplinary surgical service and BLS certification are required. The position is full-time with day shift and comprehensive benefits.

Job Description

• Prepares sterile dressings and clean instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Obtains scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves the surgeon and assistants.
• Assists in draping the sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the procedure.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Interpersonal Skills [Required]

• Laser skills/training [Required]
• Able to precept and act as resource person and preceptor in multiple surgical specialties [Preferred]
• Minimum of one year scrub experience in a multi-disciplinary surgical service [Required]
• Demonstrated specialization in one or more surgical areas as determined by Director [Required]
• Proficient in the English language [Required]
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia, surgical site infection prevention, emergency code cart, high and low level disinfection, clinical alarms, medication management, isolation precautions, surgical care of patients age (0-100+), fire safety, AIDET, and SBAR [Required]
• Proficient in a minimum of 3 major surgical specialties [Preferred]

• 1+ years of experience as certified surgical tech [Preferred]
