Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our operating room team. The role supports sterile technique, instruments, and patient positioning during surgical procedures.

You will prepare sterile fields, pass instruments, and assist with case setup to ensure efficient workflows. Responsibilities include performing accurate counts with the circulating nurse, gowning and gloving clinicians, and maintaining highest sterile standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred; high school or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, and sterile field setup.
• CPR/BLS certification and CST or OR tech credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments and meds for procedures.
• Performs counts with circulator before incision and before close.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; assists with room prep.
• Maintains sterile technique and assists with terminal sterilization.

Job Description:

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Work Experience:

• 2+ experience as certified surgical tech [Preferred]
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required]
• OR Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]

Pay Range:

$23.94 - $44.53
