Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a skilled RN to join the Cardiovascular ICU team on the night shift. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for adults with complex CVICU conditions, including advanced heart failure, post-MI cases, transplants, and ECMO considerations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• 1 year RN CVICU experience required; 2+ years CVICU preferred.
• Texas RN license or multistate license via NLC.
• BLS certification by AHA or ARC.
• ACLS certification by AHA or ARC.
• NIHSS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents comprehensive patient assessments for age-specific groups.
• Anticipates patient and family needs to develop a care plan using assessment data.
• Initiates nursing interventions and documents; coordinates with the interdisciplinary team.
• Prioritizes interventions and notes changes in condition; communicates with patient and family.
• Evaluates interventions and updates the care plan with timely documentation.
• Adheres to hospital policies and ANA standards in care delivery.
• Educates patients and families; documents education and discharge plans.
• Welcomes and orients patients/families; reviews daily goals and plans with patient input.
• Direct patient care and/or handling of patient records as part of core duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
