Job summary

C.H. Robinson is looking for a Customs Specialist who will protect compliance, minimize risk, and ensure seamless movement of customer shipments through the customs clearance process.

You will serve as a trusted customs expert, managing complex exceptions, government agency examinations, and high‑impact shipment issues with regulatory knowhow. This role works on-site five days a week during training, then shifts to two days in the office with remote work for the remainder.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
• Minimum 2-3 years of entry-writing experience, international transportation or experience with AI Agents.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field; familiarity with automation workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate customs entry data for accuracy and compliance.
• Resolve complex customs exceptions and regulatory concerns.
• Manage government agency holds and examinations (CBP, FDA, CPSC, VACIS, CET, Tailgate).
• Interpret regulations and apply them to daily operations and automated processes.
• Prioritize critical shipment issues to prevent delays.
• Partner with brokers, providers, and internal teams for clearance and delivery.
• Maintain customer-specific SOPs and HTS data.
• Investigate cargo damage, insurance, demurrage, and detention disputes.
• Conduct quality reviews of entries and automated decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
