Thomas Freight in Torrance, CA, seeks an experienced Customs Entry Writer to prepare and submit U.S. customs entries in compliance with CBP rules. You will classify products, calculate duties, and coordinate with importers, carriers, and agencies to ensure seamless clearance.

This role requires 2+ years in customs entry writing within freight forwarding or brokerage, strong import regulation knowledge, and attention to detail. A Customs Broker License is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of customs entry writing experience in a freight forwarder or broker setting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations and clearance procedures.
• Familiarity with HTS classification and duty calculations.
• Experience with customs brokerage software and ACE.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Clear communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines concurrently.
• Customs Broker License preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit customs entries in compliance with CBP regulations.
• Review shipping docs: invoices, packing lists, B/Ls, arrival notices.
• Classify products using HTS.
• Calculate duties, taxes, and fees.
• Coordinate with importers, carriers, and agencies.
• Ensure timely shipment clearance and resolve issues.
• Maintain records for compliance and audits.
• Provide proactive shipment status updates to customers.
• Stay current with regulatory changes.
