Job summary

Johnson Service Group in Houston, TX is seeking a Customs Entry Writer for a hybrid/remote contract-to-hire role. You will ensure accurate import/export documentation, classify tariffs, and maintain CargoWise records in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in customs brokerage, strong math and data skills, and proficiency with CargoWise and MS Office to support onboarding, billing, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in customs brokerage, logistics, or trade compliance completing Customs Entries (beyond entering into a database).
• Must be able to calculate tariffs and taxes.
• CargoWise experience is required.
• Strong working knowledge of customs entry processes, tariff classification, and compliance procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process new customer onboarding packets for import/export activities.
• Review and validate packing lists, commercial invoices, and Bills of Lading (BOLs) for accuracy and proper classification.
• Maintain and update client profiles in CargoWise, ensuring consistency with tariff structures and regulatory requirements.
• Track and manage monthly bond renewals, including billing considerations and termination handling for prior months.
• Generate and analyze daily and monthly operational reports to support efficiency improvements.
