Job summary

Peter Wittwer Global Logistics in Algonquin, IL is seeking a Customs Entry Writer for a full-time, on-site role. You will file ISFs timely and accurately, review commercial documents for accuracy, and classify goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule while determining duty rates.

You will coordinate with clients, carriers, and internal teams to resolve documentation issues, track shipments, respond to customs inquiries or holds, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations.

Qualifications

  • Two to three years experience in customs brokerage, import documentation preparation, and U.S. Customs entry processing, including HTS classification and duty calculation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing ISF documents, commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipment documents.
  • Knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and related government agency rules (e.g., FDA, USDA, EPA) is highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency with customs entry software, logistics or freight forwarding systems, and standard office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, e-mail).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, carriers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple shipments and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment in Algonquin, IL, while taking ownership of assigned entries and tasks.
  • LCB is highly preferred but not mandatory

Role Description

The Customs Entry Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Algonquin, IL.
