Job summary

FreightTAS is seeking a Customs Entry Writer to prepare and file customs entries for importing clients, working closely with operations, carriers and CBP. The role offers hands-on mentorship toward the Customs Broker License Exam.

You will classify merchandise under HTSUS, review documents for accuracy, and coordinate releases with Partner Government Agencies. A strong attention to detail and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in a customs brokerage operations role.
• Familiarity with HTSUS classification, valuation, country of origin rules and duty calculation.
• Knowledge of CBP regulations (19 CFR) and entry requirements.
• Experience with brokerage software such as CargoWise, SmartBorder, Descartes or similar is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and transmit customs entries within CBP deadlines.
• Classify merchandise under HTSUS and determine duties, taxes, and fees.
• Review invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and origin certificates for compliance.
• File entry summaries via ABI/ACE and coordinate with CBP and agencies like FDA/USDA/ EPA/ DOT/FWS.
• Monitor shipment status and resolve holds and discrepancies.
• Communicate with importers, carriers, freight forwarders, truckers and warehouses.
