Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions and teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a safety-focused organization.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across hourly and supervision roles.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to meet customer service and sales goals.
• Ensures staffing and hiring to meet needs and maintains company standards.
• Promotes career development and succession planning for the team.
• Documents disciplinary actions and discharges as needed.
• Manages P&L, drives sales, and controls shrink within the department.
• Delivers exceptional, fast, friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in meetings and actions.
• Ensures training completion and adherence to safety practices.
• Maintains store appearance and product presentation during peak hours.
