Job Description

Summary

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process.

Main Responsibilities

1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
3. Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
4. Stay alert to any reactions from the donor during or after the process and notify staff.
5. Use PDA to record incidents, machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
6. Link equipment and soft goods used in the process to the donor via PDA.
7. Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic management system.
9. Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
10. Maintain a clean work environment and ensure supplies are available, following all safety policies.
11. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
12. May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
13. Bilingual skills may be required.
14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

Minimum of three months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience.

Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions

Ability to understand, remember, and apply instructions.

Ability to observe equipment operation and communicate with customers.

Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.

Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Work in a fast-paced environment with potential exposure to hazards, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; PPE required.

Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
