Job summary

The Ohio State Highway Patrol in Lancaster, OH is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 to perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general building maintenance at the HP Lancaster Post. The role supports public safety operations and requires a valid driver’s license while offering full-time hours and a 6:00am–3:00pm schedule.

Work location is on-site at 3800 Lancaster-Circleville Road, with union representation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
  • AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment)
  • AND Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
  • POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
  • Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration & /or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures.
  • Performs basic painting.
  • Operates state vehicle to transport equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair.
  • Performs minor custodial duties.
  • Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties.
  • Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

May work evening shift; may be exposed to high & low temperatures; may be exposed to weather.

This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.
