Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a friendly and reliable sales associate to support daily store operations in Alexandria. You will provide friendly customer service, help merchandise on the floor, and assist customers with purchase decisions.

You will ring items at the register, handle cash transactions, and maintain a clean, organized sales floor while upholding Goodwill's community-focused mission.

Qualifications

• Friendly, customer-service oriented approach essential.
• Ability to perform basic math and operate a cash register.
• Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Proficiency with basic computer use.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and courteous service to all customers inside the store, outside of the store, and on the phone.
• Assures merchandise is placed on the sales floor in a timely manner
• Able to ensure items are rung accurately on the register
• Demonstrates accurate cash handling skill to include but is not limited to making change, operate and maintain the cash register, check and charge card machine, and use of a calculator
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise and answers customer’s questions courteously and promptly
• Keeps floor merchandise neat and orderly (racks, shelves, bins, and hangers) and assists customers with purchase selections.
• Maintains clean professional appearance
• Maintain an orderly and clean register area
• Maintain familiarity with store security procedures and exercise security practices when necessary
• Perform general housekeeping responsibilities to include store upkeep duties as needed to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting (including restrooms and dressing rooms)
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
