Job summary

Kroger is hiring for a part-time cashier/courtesy clerk in Jackson, TN. You will greet customers, process transactions, and operate the POS system while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. You will follow policy on tender types, restricted items, and loyalty offers, and maintain a safe, clean store environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in view of others.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and loyalty offers per policy.
• Follow cash handling policies and protect against loss and shortages.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow procedures for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; assist customers accordingly.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety programs; identify hazards and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report items needing repair; maintain a safe environment.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued by answering product questions.
• Follow local, state and federal laws and company guidelines; work well under pressure.
• Ability to manage conflicts calmly and work cooperatively in a fast-paced setting.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
