Job summary

Kroger Co. is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker at our Hillsdale, MI location to deliver outstanding customer service, greet customers, and keep the checkout area clean and efficient.

You will handle transactions, operate the POS, follow policy on tenders and restricted items, stay updated on ads, and support safety, loss prevention, and accurate pricing while helping shoppers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, and loyalty offers per policy.
• Follow cash handling limits and loss-prevention procedures.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present and future ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
• Conduct preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needs.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions across the store.
• Adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflict professionally.
• Operate with honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support and assist through interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
