Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced store environment. You will greet customers, process transactions at the POS, and uphold cash handling, safety, and store policies.

You will work to ensure accuracy, respond to questions about products, and maintain a clean, welcoming checkout area while complying with food safety regulations and company guidelines.

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention policies.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Assist with safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
