Job summary

Kroger Co. is hiring a Cashier/Checker to provide outstanding service, greet customers, and keep the checkout area running smoothly in a fast-paced environment.

You will process transactions, operate the POS system, handle cash and other tenders, and follow company policies on loss prevention and safety. We value honesty, integrity, and a welcoming atmosphere for every shopper.

Training is provided with flexible scheduling in part-time roles and benefits described in our resources.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers while maintaining a visible presence.
• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently at the check lane.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, and various payments per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits, loss prevention rules and safety guidelines.
• Follow policies for restricted items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) and promotions.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and stay updated on ads.
• Follow procedures for stamps, gift cards and coupons as applicable.
• Assist customers and answer product questions to create a welcoming environment.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Maintain composure in high-paced settings and manage conflicts calmly.
