Job summary

The Kroger family of companies in Madison, WI is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding service and ensure a safe, clean shopping environment. You will greet customers, process transactions, and handle a variety of payment methods while following company policies.

Responsibilities include POS operation, cash handling discipline, and staying updated on ads and promotions. Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is a plus, with a focus on teamwork and integrity.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the store.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the checkout.
• Operate the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) according to policy.
• Adhere to cash handling guidelines and minimize loss.
• Follow policies for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Provide product information and answer customer questions to improve their experience.
• Comply with all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information.
