Job summary

Kroger in the United States is seeking a Cashier/Checker to welcome customers, process transactions, and maintain a clean, safe store environment. You will handle cash, checks, credit and debit transactions through the POS system, adhering to company policies and safety procedures while delivering outstanding service.

Ideal candidates have strong communication abilities and basic math skills, with prior customer service or retail experience.

Responsibilities

Greet, engage, and assist customers in the check lane.
Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers according to company policy.
Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss.
Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions or issues.
Inspect equipment and notify maintenance when repairs are needed.
Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products.
