Job summary

Seaboard Foods in Merriam, KS is seeking a Customer Dispatch professional to evaluate drivers and owner-operators, ensure on-time delivery, and deliver superior customer service.

You will maximize truck utilization, report on equipment needs, coordinate with maintenance, and liaise between drivers and customers to ensure smooth handoffs. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED is required.
  • 5+ years in transportation operations including dispatch and customer service.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience with TMS software, PowerPro and PeopleNet.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize truck utilization and reduce driver turnover.
  • Gather, evaluate and report information; advise on reequipment needs.
  • Coordinate with maintenance manager on tractor/trailer maintenance and repair.
  • Communicate and monitor load performance with drivers and manage home time.
  • Facilitate communication between customer and driver for handoffs.
  • Report to the Customer Dispatch Manager.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Customer Dispatch opportunity in Seaboard Transport Inc. at our Merriam, KS office. The Customer Dispatch is responsible for the evaluation of company drivers and owner-operator drivers to ensure needs are met while maintaining a high level of customer service and on-time delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maximize truck utilization and reduce driver turnover.

  • Responsible for gathering, evaluating and reporting information as needed. Evaluates and makes recommendations for reequipment requirements.

  • Communicate with vehicle maintenance manager and personnel on specific tractor or trailer equipment maintenance and repair as needed.

  • Communicates and monitors performance on all loads with drivers, manages drivers home time.

  • Communication between customer and driver ensuring the successful handoff or pickup of product

  • Reports to the Customer Dispatch Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:



  • High School or GED.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in transportation operations including dispatch and customer service experience.

  • Highly organized and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.


Preferred:



  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred.

  • Experience with TMS software.

  • PowerPro

  • PeopleNet


SCHEDULE


  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekly on-call rotation and overnight travel as requested.
