Plainfield Park District is seeking a Custodian for the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center on a part-time night/weekend schedule. The role focuses on keeping the facility clean and safe for daily use, under the supervision of the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.
• Take out trash and tidy furniture; dust surfaces.
• Clean up after accidents or illnesses; sanitize restrooms.
• Maintain cleaning tools and equipment; ensure proper condition.
• Wash and wipe windows and walls; clean floors.
• Replenish disposable supplies; collect trash and recycling.
• Report repairs and supplies needs to Recreation Manager.
• Assist with facility grounds and snow removal when needed.
• Assist with event setup, teardown, and maintenance as required.
• Maintain records, reports, and checklists; participate in staff training.

About this position

Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics, the Custodian is directly responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

Shift times: Wednesdays 5pm-9pm, Saturdays 6am-10am.

This position pays $18.50 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates, supports, and enforces park district customer service standards; exercises professional judgment and displays initiative within established policies and regulations
• Ensure building is prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
• Clean up after accidents or illnesses
• Maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and materials in proper condition
• Wash and wipe down windows and walls
• Uses a variety of cleaning equipment and materials to maintain floors
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities
• Replenish disposable supplies
• Collecting and taking out trash and recycling
• Report to the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics an repairs and supplies needed
• On occasion may be required to assist with facility grounds, including but not limited to snow removal
• Assist with event set-up, tear down and maintenance when needed.
• Maintain all records, reports, and checklists as requested.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Performs any additional related tasks as required.
