Job summary

Plfdparks is seeking a Custodian to maintain the cleanliness of the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. The role reports to the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics and requires evening and Saturday shifts.

The position offers a $18.50 per hour wage, with a free gym membership as a benefit. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and agents.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.
• Take out trash and tidy furniture for next day. Clean surfaces.
• Clean up after accidents or illnesses.
• Maintain cleaning tools and equipment in proper condition.
• Wash and wipe windows and walls; clean and sanitize restrooms.
• Replenish disposable supplies and manage trash/recycling.
• Assist with event setup, teardown and maintenance as needed.
• Maintain records, reports and checklists as requested.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics, the Custodian is directly responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

Shift times: Wednesdays 5pm-9pm, Saturdays 6am-10am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates, supports, and enforces park district customer service standards; exercises professional judgment and displays initiative within established policies and regulations
• Ensure building is prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
• Clean up after accidents or illnesses
• Maintain cleaning tools, equipment, and materials in proper condition
• Wash and wipe down windows and walls
• Uses a variety of cleaning equipment and materials to maintain floors
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities
• Replenish disposable supplies
• Collecting and taking out trash and recycling
• Report to the Recreation Manager of Facilities and Aquatics an repairs and supplies needed
• On occasion may be required to assist with facility grounds, including but not limited to snow removal
• Assist with event set-up, tear down and maintenance when needed.
• Maintain all records, reports, and checklists as requested.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Perform any additional related tasks as required.
