Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District in Glendale is seeking a Custodian for nights and weekends to keep the campus clean and safe. Schedule includes Saturday-Sunday 10:00–18:30 and Monday-Wednesday 14:00–22:30, with a 12-month calendar and a salary range of $19.22–$22.54 per hour, DOE.

The role requires a valid Arizona Class D driver’s license and prior cleaning experience is preferred. MCCCD offers a comprehensive benefits package and flexible work arrangements.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and speak at a level sufficient for job duties.
  • Valid Arizona Class D driver’s license required; must meet driving standards.
  • Experience cleaning a school or college setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience with floor care equipment including stripping and waxing.
  • One year of full-time MCCCD experience in the previous two years.
  • May be required to climb ladders; lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds repeatedly.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Specialist Supervisor, the Custodian will assist in keeping the campus clean and safe. They willperform routine and special cleaning of facilities to ensure they are clean, sanitary and in an orderly condition. In addition to an assigned zone, they will work independently or in a small group to complete specialty projects as needed.

Essential Functions

30% - Sweeps, mops, waxes and vacuums floors/carpets (must be able to operate equipment such as buffer, auto-scrubbers and burnishers)

25% - Cleans classrooms, common areas, restrooms, locker rooms and equipment; washes walls, windows, vents and lighting fixtures

20% - Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; empties trash for classrooms and common areas

15% - Performs assigned tasks in response to requests and complaints; keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working condition

10% - Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described.

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements

Desired Qualifications

A. Prior experience in cleaning of a school, college or equivalent (Government or business office, etc.)

B. Experience working independently

C. Experience with the proper use and labeling of cleaning products

D. Experience running Floorcare Equipment including stripping and waxing floors

E. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years

Special Working Conditions
  • May be required to climb ladders
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of lift/force frequently
  • Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); frequent exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals); and frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions, intense noise or travel.
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • This position is assigned evenings and weekends
