Job summary

Maricopa County Community College District is seeking Custodian for Glendale Community College to perform routine and special cleaning, maintain sanitary facilities, and support campus safety. Positions include evening shifts with a 12-month calendar and full-time status.

Salary ranges from $19.22 to $22.54 hourly, depending on experience, with standard benefits and potential travel between MCCCD locations.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described.

Responsibilities

• 30% - Sweeps, mops, waxes and vacuums floors/carpets (must be able to operate equipment such as buffer, auto-scrubbers and burnishers)
• 25% - Cleans classrooms, common areas, restrooms, locker rooms and equipment; washes walls, windows, vents and lighting fixtures
• 20% - Dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures; empties trash for classrooms and common areas
• 15% - Performs assigned tasks in response to requests and complaints; keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working condition
• 10% - Performs other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Specialist Supervisor, the Custodian will assist in keeping the campus clean and safe. They willperform routine and special cleaning of facilities to ensure they are clean, sanitary and in an orderly condition. In addition to an assigned zone, they will work independently or in a small group to complete specialty projects as needed.

Essential Functions

15% - Performs assigned tasks in response to requests and complaints; keeps assigned tools and/or equipment in clean and safe working condition

10% - Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

• A.Prior experience in cleaning of a school, college or equivalent (Government or business office, etc.)
• B.Experience working independently
• C.Experience with the proper use and labeling of cleaning products
• D.Experience running Floorcare Equipment including stripping and waxing floors
• E. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years

Special Working Conditions

• May be required to climb ladders
• Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of lift/force frequently
• Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); frequent exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals); and frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions, intense noise or travel.
• Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
• Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
• Does require numerous evenings or may require weekends
