Job summary

Wisconsin Union – Union South is seeking a Custodian Lead to join the Facilities Custodian Team. You will assist in training new employees, monitor progress, and perform routine cleaning, trash removal, and basic maintenance under supervision.

This 3rd shift role covers 10pm-6:30pm (Union South) or 10:30pm-7pm (Memorial Union), 40 hours per week, indoors and outdoors at UW‑Madison locations in Madison, WI. Apply with Rod Rotar.

Qualifications

• Ability to walk, stand, lift, bend and climb for most of the shift.
• Lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs regularly.
• Experience supervising or training other staff preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and secures facility entrances and reports issues.
• Organizes supplies, documents inventory, requests additional supplies.
• Documents repairs, pest control needs, and reports hazards.
• Keeps walkways clear of debris, snow, and ice.
• Schedules and trains staff as needed.
• Operates cleaning equipment and handles waste/recycling.
• Responds to emergencies and escalates per policy.
