Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking a Custodian Lead to join the Wisconsin Union – Union South custodian team. The lead worker will assist in training new employees, inspect progress and quality of building services, and perform routine maintenance, cleaning, trash and snow removal under supervision.

Shift hours are 3rd shift, 10pm - 6:30pm (Union South) or 10:30pm - 7pm (Memorial Union), days of week worked will rotate. 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

Ability to walk, stand, lift, bend, and climb for the majority of the shift.
Ability to lift and move supplies up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
Ability to remove snow and ice outside during cold weather.

Responsibilities

Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities.
Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed.
Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training.
Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables.
Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures.
