Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Custodian I for Shift 2 at Patterson Mill Middle/High School to perform routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The role is full-time and twelve months, with a starting salary of $35,602 and a potential up to $49,706.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required (If high school diploma is not presented, testing will assess reading, understanding and applying written instructions, etc.).
• One year of experience in a custodial, mechanical trade or related area, preferred.
• Physically able to perform the essential functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders/scaffolding as needed.

Responsibilities

• Selects appropriate equipment and supplies and sweeps and cleans floors in shops, classrooms, offices, corridors and other areas.
• Uses custodial equipment such as brooms, mops, buffers, vacuums and other supplies.
• Collects and disposes of trash and garbage.
• Unloads supplies and positions on shelves or storage racks.
• Moves furniture and office equipment up to 50 pounds as required.
• Maintains lavatories in clean and sanitary condition.
• Cleans windows and light fixtures and accesses higher areas as needed.
• Assists in snow removal, lawn and playground maintenance, and emergency responses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
