Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Custodian to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors and staff on campus in Iowa City. This full-time, on-campus role offers a benefits package and paid time off.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays. Salary is listed at $17.66 per hour. Minimum eligibility includes basic reading/writing ability and follow-through on directions.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
• Previous cleaning experience.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Experience using cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of facilities and patient areas.
• Trash removal and stocking custodial supplies.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms; refill supplies.
• Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
• Carpet cleaning and furniture moves as needed.
• Unit/bed making and wall/ceiling washing.
• Operate custodial equipment according to procedure.

Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities

• General cleaning
• Trash removal
• Stock supplies for cart and custodial area
• Clean and disinfect restrooms/ refill restroom supplies
• Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and damp mopping hard surface floors
• Carpet cleaning
• Unit/bed making
• Wall & ceiling washing
• Furniture moves and room setups
• Use various types of custodial equipment in performance of duties
• Other tasks and duties as assigned

Position may have Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Risk.

This position is performed fully on campus.
