Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital is seeking a PRN environmental services professional for the afternoon shift. The role requires maintaining a clean environment across patient rooms, offices, and common areas, with responsibilities including proper waste disposal and floor care.

This position emphasizes teamwork and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards. Hours are Monday-Friday 6:00PM-11:30PM; PRN as needed, with every other weekend and holiday coverage.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED requirement or equivalent experience.
  • 1–3 months related experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean work environment in assigned area and dispose of trash and regulated medical waste properly.
  • Keep patient rooms, offices, nurses' stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchens, elevators, and lobby areas clean and neat.
  • Participate in cleaning tasks such as walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows and light bulbs.
  • Maintain clean floor surfaces with dusting, scrubbing, waxing, and vacuuming.
  • Assist in relocation of office and hospital furniture/equipment as needed.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $17.50 - $21.50

A Brief Overview Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned area. Responsible for proper removal of trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste.

What you will do
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned area. Responsible for proper removal of trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste.
  • Maintains a clean/neat environment in working area. These areas may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, offices, nurses' stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, stairwells, and lobby areas.
  • Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to: cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows/glass and replacing light bulbs.
  • Maintains clean/neat floor surfaces as assigned. This may entail, but not limited to: dusting, buffing, scrubbing, strip/sealing, waxing, extracting, and vacuuming.
  • Dispose of all trash in an appropriate manner including the pickup, boxing, shredding, and maintaining general cleanliness of trash receptacles.
  • Participates in relocation of office and other general hospital furniture/equipment as necessary.
