Job summary

Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a part-time, PRN environmental services worker for the Afternoon Shift (6:00 PM – 11:30 PM). The role involves cleaning patient rooms, offices, lounges, and corridors, with coverage Monday through Friday and every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities include maintaining neat environments, cleaning walls, ceilings, floors, and disposing of trash and waste safely.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent, or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean/neat environment in assigned areas including patient rooms, offices, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, and lobby areas.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as walls, ceilings, lights, baseboards, windows, and light bulbs replacement.
• Maintain clean floor surfaces through dusting, buffing, scrubbing, waxing, and vacuuming.
• Dispose of trash properly and manage recycling and medical waste.
• Relocate office and hospital furniture/equipment as needed.

$17.50 - $21.50

A Brief Overview

Responsible for maintaining a clean work environment in assigned area. Responsible for proper removal of trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste.

What you will do

• Maintains a clean/neat environment in working area. These areas may include, but not be limited to: patient rooms, offices, nurses' stations, lounges, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, stairwells, and lobby areas.
• Participates in all cleaning activities as assigned. These may include, but not be limited to: cleaning walls, ceilings, vents, lights, baseboards, windows/glass and replacing light bulbs.
• Maintains clean/neat floor surfaces as assigned. This may entail, but not limited to: dusting, buffing, scrubbing, strip/sealing, waxing, extracting, and vacuuming.
• Dispose of all trash in an appropriate manner including the pickup, boxing, shredding, and maintaining general cleanliness of trash receptacles.
• Participates in relocation of office and other general hospital furniture/equipment as necessary.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent :or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
