Job summary

Edina Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to join South View Middle School. The role is full-time, 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am, 12-month position, non-exempt.

You will perform cleaning in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, gyms and other areas to provide a safe, clean learning environment for students, staff and visitors. Candidates with a high school diploma and interest in a school district setting are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Boiler license preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Pool license preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Mechanical aptitude for performing and learning repair work.
• Custodian experience preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.
• Interest in working in a school district environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate with students, employees, and visitors.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with employees.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning within assigned areas, hallways, restrooms, gyms and school areas.
• Adhere to cleaning schedules and work assignments to maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Support students, faculty and staff with courteous service and assistance as needed.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and report maintenance concerns.

Salary Range: The wage for this position ranges from $24.26 to $25.67 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Most candidates will start at the entry-level rate of $24.26 per hour.
