Shifts: Dayshift and Afternoon shifts

Job Summary

The Custodian maintains school buildings and grounds, sets up for events, and assists staff with work requests.

Essential Functions

1. Clean and maintain assigned areas, assist with school cleanup, and perform emergency cleaning as needed.
2. Inspect and minor repairs on HVAC, boilers, electrical, mechanical, and sound equipment.
3. Change air filters and maintain custodial equipment.
4. Repair fixtures and furniture, assemble furniture.
5. Assist students with lockers, doors, and bleachers.
6. Maintain grounds, operate lawn equipment, and care for athletic fields and gym floors.
7. Set up and clean up for school events and community functions.
8. Support cafeteria operations, including cleanup and waste disposal.
9. Help maintain building security, perform checks, and manage emergency systems.
10. Check emergency lights and fire extinguishers.
11. Stock supplies, receive shipments, and assist with inventory and paperwork.
12. Open classrooms and assist with repairs and maintenance requests.
13. Help maintain order within the school environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 months of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
• District custodial certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Understanding of cleaning, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
• Knowledge of SDS and ability to repair small to medium equipment.
• Proficiency with office equipment and computers.
• Ability to maintain property and inventory.

Physical Demands

Heavy work requiring exertion up to 50 pounds, with physical abilities including balancing, climbing, handling, and visual acuity.
