Job summary

McPherson College is seeking an experienced Custodial Supervisor to lead our custodial team and help maintain a beautiful, clean campus. You will coordinate daily operations, train employees, maintain quality standards, and ensure the campus reflects the pride we take in serving students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

This leadership role offers direct impact on campus appearance and team success, with regular hours and opportunities to support campus events and improvements.

Qualifications

Experience supervising or leading custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or similar operations teams.
Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to motivate, train, and develop employees.
Good judgment, dependability, and a commitment to quality.
Customer-service mindset with ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to ~50 pounds.

What You\'ll Do

As Custodial Supervisor, you\'ll split your time between working with the custodial team and providing day-to-day leadership.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

Working alongside custodial staff to clean classrooms, offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and public spaces.
Planning daily work assignments and coordinating custodial coverage across campus.
Training new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment, safety practices, and College standards.
Coaching, mentoring, and supporting custodial staff while fostering a positive team environment.
Conducting building inspections to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
Coordinating major cleaning projects, including floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, and summer deep-cleaning activities.
Evaluating new custodial products and equipment to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintaining custodial checklists, records, schedules, and performance evaluations.
Collaborating with other Facilities Management staff to support special events and campus operations.

Schedule

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required to support campus events, special projects, or operational needs.
