Job summary

McPherson College is seeking an experienced Custodial Supervisor to lead our custodial team and help maintain a beautiful, clean campus. You will coordinate daily operations, train employees, maintain quality standards, and ensure the campus reflects the pride we take in serving students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

This leadership role offers direct impact on campus appearance and team success, with regular hours and opportunities to support campus events and improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or leading custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or similar operations teams.
• Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate, train, and develop employees.
• Good judgment, dependability, and a commitment to quality.
• Customer-service mindset with ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Ability to perform physical duties including lifting up to ~50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead the custodial team and oversee daily operations on campus.
• Plan daily work assignments and coordinate custodial coverage across facilities.
• Train new staff on cleaning procedures, equipment, safety practices, and College standards.
• Coach and support custodial staff to foster a positive team environment.
• Conduct building inspections to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
• Coordinate major cleaning projects like floor refinishing and deep-cleaning.
• Evaluate new custodial products and equipment to improve efficiency.
• Maintain checklists, records, schedules, and performance evaluations.
• Collaborate with Facilities Management for events and campus operations.
