The Custodial Project Manager will lead day-to-day custodial operations, drive performance, safety, and customer satisfaction on a large contract, with on-site leadership and essential on-call responsibilities. This role requires coordinating with customers, subcontractors, and corporate teams while promoting Didlake values and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Business, Management, Operations or related field with 3+ years of management experience leading custodial/facilities/ops, OR
  • AA/AS with at least 5 years of relevant experience and supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee day-to-day operations of assigned custodial contract(s).
  • Ensure services meet customer expectations, standards and contractual requirements.
  • Develop staffing plans, work schedules and workflows to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor KPIs, quality assurance, and trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present operational reports for customers and Didlake leadership.
  • Serve as primary contact between Didlake, customers, subcontractors and corporate departments.
  • Recruit, coach and retain a high-performing custodial workforce.
  • Supervise frontline supervisors and staff, providing coaching and training.
  • Conduct evaluations and recommend personnel actions.
  • Foster accountability, teamwork, and inclusion.
  • Support employee engagement and promote Didlake values.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, safety standards and contract requirements.
  • Promote proactive safety through inspections and corrective actions.
  • Train employees in safe use of equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Address unsafe conditions and stop work when hazards exist.
  • Maintain required safety documentation.
  • Monitor service quality via inspections and QA reviews and implement corrective actions.
  • Verify cleaning meets contract specifications and standards.
  • Review project status and adjust staffing to meet performance goals.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Foster dignity, inclusion and respect in the workforce.
  • Support human rights policies through training and accountability.
  • Partner with Rehabilitation Services to support employees with disabilities.
  • Champion Didlake's mission of creating employment opportunities.
  • Complete required reports and maintain training compliance.

Why This Role Matters

The Custodial Project Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a large custodial services contract, ensuring exceptional service delivery, compliance, employee engagement, quality performance, and customer satisfaction. This role provides leadership to supervisors and custodial employees, oversees contract performance, staffing, budgets, quality, and safety, serves as the primary liaison between Didlake, the customer, and corporate support departments, and supports Didlake's mission of creating opportunities for people with disabilities. As an essential personnel member, this position is required to respond to and remain on-site during emergency operations, including snow removal events, for extended periods as required to meet operational requirements.

What You Will Do
Contract & Operational Leadership
  • Direct and oversee all day-to-day operations of assigned custodial contract(s).
  • Ensure custodial services consistently meet or exceed customer expectations, cleaning standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Develop operational plans, staffing strategies, work schedules, and workflows that maximize efficiency, service quality, and contract performance.
  • Monitor performance metrics, KPIs, quality assurance measures, inspection results, and operational trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present operational reports for customers and Didlake leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Didlake, customers, subcontractors, and corporate departments.
Team Leadership
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a high-performing custodial workforce.
  • Supervise frontline supervisors and employees, providing ongoing coaching, custodial training, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend personnel actions consistent with company policy.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, respect, and inclusion.
  • Support employee engagement and promote Didlake's values throughout the workforce.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage contract budgets and operate within established financial parameters.
  • Monitor labor utilization, employee scheduling, overtime, and staffing levels.
  • Track custodial supply, chemical, and equipment expenditures and ensure responsible resource management.
  • Recommend operational improvements that enhance efficiency while controlling costs.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, company policies, OSHA regulations, federal safety standards, and custodial operating procedures.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through inspections, coaching, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained in the safe use of custodial equipment, tools, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Immediately address unsafe conditions and stop work when imminent hazards exist.
  • Support safety committee initiatives and maintain required documentation.
  • Ensure accurate employee timekeeping and attendance records.
Quality Assurance
  • Monitor custodial service quality through routine inspections and quality assurance reviews and implement corrective actions when needed.
  • Verify that cleaning services are performed in accordance with contract specifications, customer expectations, and established quality standards.
  • Review project status and adjust staffing or work plans to maintain performance objectives.
  • Ensure all deliverables are completed on time and within budget.

  • Foster an environment that promotes dignity, inclusion, and respect for all employees.
  • Ensure Human Rights policies are understood and followed through training, reporting, and accountability.
  • Partner with Rehabilitation Services to support employees with disabilities and maximize employment success.

  • Complete required operational reports, documentation, and records accurately and timely.
  • Maintain compliance with all required Didlake training.

Education & Experience
  • A BS/BA in Business, Management, Operations, or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience leading custodial, facilities, environmental services, or commercial operations, OR
  • An AA/AS and at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing teams in a federal contract environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising diverse workforces, including employees with disabilities, is highly desirable.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions required.
  • Must be able to respond to and remain on-site during emergency operations, including snow removal events, for extended periods of time as required to meet operational requirements.
  • Familiarity with federal contracts, budgets, safety, and personnel management regulations required.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact with, train, and resolve the personnel issues of people with disabilities.
  • Must possess strong leadership and coaching skills.
