Job summary

Encore Boston Harbor is seeking an Assistant Chef to support culinary management with cost control, inventories, and staff training. The role ensures compliance with health regulations and safety standards, while supervising kitchen staff and assisting chefs across stations.

The candidate should have 3+ years as a chef in a full-service restaurant, leadership experience, and strong knife skills. English fluency is required; Massachusetts gaming certifications may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a chef in a full-service restaurant
• 1 year in a leadership role preferred
• Hospitaility experience preferred
• Extensive sanitation and culinary knowledge, and demonstrated knife skills required

Responsibilities

• Ensures Encore Boston Harbor core values and standards are implemented
• Assists in daily kitchen activities to maintain restaurant performance
• Assists in management and performance of team members
• Monitors kitchen activities to enforce policies and controls
• Assists management to deliver maximum service and guest satisfaction
• Facilitates kitchen communication through regular meetings
• Assists in hiring, performance management and engagement
• Keeps informed of developments and makes recommendations
• Manages guest relations with diplomacy and tact
• Handles multiple priorities and deadlines under pressure
• Assists in menu planning and meal preparation for varying group sizes
• Maintains sanitary conditions of kitchen and equipment
• Purchases and verifies food and kitchen supplies
• Estimates amounts to purchase based on function and guest count
• Plans, budgets, inventory, and provisions
• Cooks to assist other cooks and chefs
• Ensures meal quality and guest satisfaction
• Adheres to safety standards and industry knowledge
• Performs other job-related duties
