Job summary

Vitality is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our culinary team in Elizabethtown, KY. Review menus, prepare nutritious meals per recipes and physician orders, and ensure safety, sanitation, and proper storage.

You will supervise serving areas in the absence of leadership and address resident feedback with a commitment to high-quality service. The ideal candidate is at least 21, has 2 years of institutional or restaurant cooking experience, and holds required health certifications.

Qualifications

• Two years of institutional or full-service restaurant cooking experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Meet state or provincial health-related requirements.
• Maintain food handler permits and other required certifications.
• Understand food safety procedures and storage techniques.
• Desire to work with older adults and their families.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and Daily Food Production Records for instructions.
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and attractive according to menus and physician orders.
• Adhere to all food-related safety and sanitation procedures.
• Adhere to portion control policies and ensure supplies are available for meals.
• Supervise preparation of serving carts and assist in absence of Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef.
• Ensure proper covering, dating, labeling and storing of food; complete leftover logs.
• Clean kitchen after meals according to schedule and resolve resident complaints as required.
• Attend onboarding, training, in-services and team meetings; participate in emergency plans.
