Job summary

Children's Home is seeking a part-time Food Service Intern in the United States, New York, City of Binghamton. The role involves learning kitchen operations, planning meals, and assisting with special events and program functions.

You will work with staff across departments, gain exposure to purchasing, inventory, and billing tasks, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world kitchen management while under supervision.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Culinary Arts program required.
• Some experience cooking or working in a kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and entries into the Electronic Health Record (EHR), while maintaining strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
• Work collaboratively with staff within the interdisciplinary team as well as colleagues in other departments.
• Assure proper food storage, sanitation and rotation of refrigerators, freezers, pantries.
• Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner, meeting all standards of content and professional presentation.
• Prepare food for program needs.
• Assist in the purchasing and ordering of all foods and maintain inventories.
• Manage job functions within established financial limits.
• Be responsible that all sharp utensils are safe and securely locked.
• Special event meals will be monitored by assigned cooks. This may include breakfasts, lunches, dinners and/or brunches for programs.
