Job summary

The Children's Home in New York, NY seeks a Food Service Intern to learn and collaborate on kitchen operations and special events. You will assist with planning, cooking large batches, and supporting program meals while gaining hands-on experience in procurement, inventory, and basic billing tasks.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Culinary Arts program required
• Some experience cooking or working in a kitchen preferred

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and entries into the Electronic Health Record (EHR), while maintaining strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
• Work collaboratively with staff within the interdisciplinary team as well as colleagues in other departments.
• Assure proper food storage, sanitation and rotation of refrigerators, freezers, pantries.
• Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner, meeting all standards of content and professional presentation.
• Prepare food for program needs.
• Assist in the purchasing and ordering of all foods and maintain inventories.
• Manage job functions within established financial limits.
• Be responsible that all sharp utensils are safe and securely locked.
• Special event meals will be monitored by assigned cooks. This may include breakfasts, lunches, dinners and/or brunches for programs.
