Job summary

Jaybird Senior Living is seeking a Culinary Assistant to support the kitchen, dining room, dish room, and related areas under the direction of the Culinary Coordinator. You will help prepare and serve meals to residents while ensuring cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and excellent communication as you set tables, transport food, maintain sanitation, participate in trainings, and assist with events.

Qualifications

• High school student (14+) working toward a diploma; follow state employment rules.
• Good communication, organizational and listening skills.
• Calm, friendly demeanor with patience and flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic problem-solving and willingness to accept supervision.
• Preferred experience in elderly care or hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the dining room for meals; serve residents and transport food to other dining areas.
• Set and clear tables, wash dishes, and clean kitchen and dining spaces per schedules.
• Maintain proper sanitation and hygiene, including PPE and hair/hand regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions and respond to alarms or emergencies.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-services; assist with events as needed.
• Complete incident reports and work orders; uphold resident confidentiality under HIPAA.
• Follow Policies & Procedures and comply with state regulations for assisted living.
