Job summary

Jaybird Senior Living is seeking a Culinary Assistant to support dining services, kitchen, and related areas under the Culinary Coordinator. The role emphasizes high-quality dining for residents, cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include meal setup, serving, sanitation, incident reporting, and participating in safety and staff meetings. The position supports activities and events while upholding HIPAA and state regulations in assisted living settings.

Qualifications

• High school student (14+) pursuing diploma or GED.
• Good communication, organizational, and listening skills.
• Calm, friendly demeanor with patience and flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic problem-solving skills; willing to accept supervision.
• Experience in elderly care or hospitality a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the dining room for meals; serve residents and transport food.
• Set and clear tables, wash dishes, and clean kitchen/dining spaces per schedule.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene, PPE use, and hair/hand protection regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions and respond to alarms or emergencies.
• Attend staff meetings and in-services; participate in safety committees.
• Assist with scheduled activities and special events as requested.
• Complete incident reports and work orders; protect resident and coworker confidentiality.
